Nominate A Tree

The trees featured on this web site represent living links to many of the moments - large and small - that make up the history of Texas. And while some twenty of the original 81 trees featured in the book Famous Trees of Texas have died since the book was published in 1970, none have been added. Now you can help us identify other trees that meet the original intent of the book, which was "to memorialize those trees which have been witness to some of the exciting periods and events in Texas' frontier history.

You may nominate a tree by downloading the PDF form below, filling in the requested information using the "fillable" fields on the form, and mailing it to us with the supporting documentation requested. A committee of experts will review each nomination for historical accuracy. We plan to add new Famous Trees twice each year.
